Earlier this year in March 2019, I reported how the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi had stopped accepting reservations temporarily. Rumors (and news) stated that the hotel had possibly closed down. I checked the Hyatt app a few days ago, and voila, this hotel was available for bookings again.

Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi – Reopened for Bookings
We’re not sure why it was temporarily unavailable. There may have been operational and ownership issues, but they seem to have been resolved, now that the hotel is back up and running. I reached out to the hotel, but they didn’t give any more insight than what we already know.
Well, we’re happy that this hotel is back on the Hyatt portfolio in the UAE.

Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi – Summer and Winter Rates
The Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Residences Emirates Pearl opened last year in June 2018. The hotel is located in the iconic West Corniche of Abu Dhabi, and is only 30 minutes away from the Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).
Typically, most hotels in UAE have amazing Summer Rates for stays between May through August. Good hotels can be found as low as AED 125 per night (~$35), which makes them perfect for mattress runs and status challenges.

The Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi is currently priced around AED 400 – AED 500 (~ $108 – $136) for the summer. There’s a current promotion “Stay 3, Pay 2”, where you get the 3rd night free when you pay for 2 nights. This brings the average nightly cost at around AED 350 / night, which is less than $100.

In the winter though, the rates average between AED 650 – AED 750+.
The best part is that it is a Category 4 Hotel, and can be redeemed with the World of Hyatt Cat 1-4 Free Night, mainly in the winter.
Summary
It’s interesting to see when hotels have mysterious opening and closing and reopening behaviors. The Grand Hyatt makes a great comeback for Hyatt loyalists.
