Hyatt Hotels has been on a roll to increase its global footprint with the acquisition of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and Two Roads Hospitality. The Two Roads Hospitality portfolio adds 4 main brands to Hyatt namely Joie De Vivre, Thompson, Alila and Destination. Alila Hotels have now started to integrate into the Hyatt system since June 25, 2019. The one property that we’re excited is joining Hyatt in this region, is the exclusive Alila Jabal Akhdar in Oman.

You also get 2,000 bonus points for your first qualifying stay at any of these new hotels before December 31, 2019. You can also earn a Category 4 Free Night Certificate if you’re able to stay at all 4 brands – Joie De Vivre, Thompson, Alila and Destination, but it might be hard since Thomson and Joie De Vivre are only located in North America. Check out these new Hyatt brands offer details here.

Alila Jabal Akhdar, Oman on Hyatt from July 16, 2019
The Alila Jabal Akhdar, an all-suite property, is set at 2,000 metres above sea level in the Al Hajar Mountains in Oman. It is a 2.5 hour drive from Muscat, and about 6 hours from Dubai. If you’re driving, you do need a 4×4, according to their driving instructions, else you could request their airport transfer from Muscat International Airport (MCT).
On July 16, Alila Jabal Akhdar will be redeemable on Hyatt at 25,000 points. What is the value of a World of Hyatt point? ThePointsGuy values it at $0.018/point, while we at ThePointsHabibi believe you can get good value redemption in Asia if you find something at $0.014/point – $0.015/point. Thus 25,000 points can be valued between $375 – $450 (AED 1,365 – 1,650).
We checked the nightly rates of Alila Jabal Akhdar, and the final price for a Mountain View Suite varied from $384 (~AED 1,400) in summer and $913 (~AED 3,350) in the winter.
Summer Rates starting at $384 – July / August 2019

Winter Rates starting at $913 – November / December 2019

If you’re able to redeem 25,000 points at this hotel in the winter months, you could instantly get double value for your Hyatt points at $0.036 / point. This is an excellent redemption, and you could even consider buying Hyatt points when they’re discounted at 40% off. And if you stay here by 31st, December, you also get 2,000 bonus points for your first qualifying stay.
The hotel has many room types with different views and each one seems to be amazing.
This hotel is perfect for hiking and adventure trails, and also star gazing. It has 2 restaurants – Juniper Restaurant and Rose Lounge, and also nice spa on-site (Alila Spa). Check out more information about Alila Jabal Akhdar on their website.
Final Thoughts
Kudos to Hyatt for increasing the footprint in Asia with these acquisitions and rolling out Alila into Hyatt. The Alila Jabal Akhdar is an excellent property for Hyatt points redemption, and we can’t wait for winter already.
